SAVE9LIVES - OUR STORY
Save9Lives is a campaign founded by NHS organ donation ambassador, Jim Lynskey, which vibrantly advocates the message that one person can save or enhance the lives of up to nine lives through transplant.
Jim was living with a condition called dilated cardiomyopathy which caused his heart to become weakened and enlarged. In 2015, Jim’s heart reached chronic failure and he began his wait for a donor heart. Knowing that there were another 6,000 sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters waiting on the transplant list, Jim founded Save9Lives, focusing his time and energy into giving more families a better chance at life.
Throughout his entire life, Jim showed bravery, strength and resilience unlike any other. The generosity and selflessness of his actions, despite the severity of his condition, are a true testament to the wonderful man that he was. But despite his tenacious fight for life, Jim Lynskey passed away on 13 May 2019 at the age of 23 years old.
Together as Jim’s family and friends, we will continue with the Save9Lives initiative, sharing Jim’s legacy and using his incredible memory to raise awareness of organ donation.
After all, if we could all be a little more Jim, the world would be a very beautiful place indeed.
